This section describes the application precautions of optical modules

The loss attenuation everywhere on the optical link is related to the specific reasons for transmission performance analysis, and the most common problems are concentrated in the following aspects:

Optical port problem: The optical link loss increases due to the pollution and damage of the optical interface, and the optical link is unavailable.

  1. Select an optical fiber connector that meets network access standards.

  1. Optical fiber connectors must have sealing caps. Cover the sealing cap when not in use to avoid contamination of the fiber optic connector and secondary pollution of the optical module optical port. When the sealing cap is not in use, it should be stored in a dust bag to avoid contamination.
  2. Align the optical connector with the optical port to avoid scratches on the end face and sleeve.
  3. Avoid long-term exposure of the optical port of the optical module. Cover it with a dust-proof plug when not in use. If you do not pay attention to the cleanliness of the dust-proof plug, put it in a dust-proof bag when not in use.
  4. Keep the end face of the fiber optic connector clean to avoid scratches.

ESD damage: ESD is an inevitable phenomenon in nature. Preventing ESD starts from preventing charge accumulation and allowing charges to discharge quickly.

  1. Keep the humidity of the environment at 30~75%RH.
  2. When operating the optical module, perform anti-static work (such as wearing an electrostatic ring or releasing static electricity by contacting the hand with the case in advance), touch the optical module case, and avoid touching the PIN pin of the optical module.
  3. The relevant equipment used should be grounded at a public grounding point connected in parallel to ensure the shortest grounding path and the smallest grounding loop. Series grounding is not allowed. The design method of using external cables to connect the grounding loop should be avoided.
  4. It is prohibited to perform hot plugging and unplugging operations on non-hot-swappable equipment.
